Long Beach to Dana Point

On Saturday, August 31st, SYC will host the 30th annual Long Beach to Dana Point Race in conjunction with our partners Dana Point Yacht Club and Dana West Yacht Club.  For the past several years we have had 50 – 70 boats participate in one of the fleets as they race down the coast (hopefully keeping it to port) to Dana Point and the hospitality of DPYC and DWYC.

Come out Friday night and visit with the sailors that have brought their boats into Shoreline from other areas for the race.  On Saturday morning, Joanie Asher and her tireless crew of volunteers have a great send-off breakfast planned for the racers and anyone else that wants to come out and enjoy the food.

Dana West Yacht Club has a great after race party planned for Saturday night.  The awards presentation will be at Dana Point Yacht Club on Sunday at noon.  Come out and have a Bloody Mary to start the day and stay for the awards.

My thanks to the many volunteers that it takes to make an event like this work – as always, SYC, DPYC and DWYC members step up when needed!

Franklin D. Ross Memorial Platform to Queen Mary Regatta

This Saturday, Shoreline will be hosting the Franklin D. Ross Memorial Platform to Queen Mary Regatta for single and double handed sailors.  There is still time to sign up for the race.  There are classes for single-handed spin, single-handed non-spin, double-handed spin and double-handed non-spin.

Many thanks to Warren Wolfe for being the Principal Race Officer (PRO) for this event.  Without the work that the volunteers on Race Committee do, it would not be possible for the racers to get out and participate.

See you on the water.

Cal 20 Taco Tuesday Series Three - The Pinata Regatta

The first race of the Cal 20 Taco Tuesdays Series Three kicked off to the usual pattern of light shifty winds at the start getting lighter but all of the competitors managed to get around the course in decent time.

Congratulations to Owen Provence for taking the win and scoring herself the much sought after prize of a pinata!

The racing continues next Tuesday - come out and enjoy the fun.

See you on the water!
