Seminars
As part of our overall goal of More Boats On The Water, the Race Management Committee has the following seminars scheduled for 2013:
Saturday, January 12th 13:00 to 16:00 – Racing
Rules of Sailing
Effective
January 1, 2013 a revised set of Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) will be in
effect from US Sailing. For new racers,
come and learn the rules or for those that have been racing awhile come dust
off what you know and hear about the latest revisions.
Saturday, March 2nd 13:00 to 16:00 – Basic Race
Management
Race
Management is integral to an effective racing program and a whole lot of
fun. As with any new venture, knowing
what you are doing makes your commitment of time more enjoyable and valuable.
So join us to learn the basics of race management and then get out on a
committee boat for a racing event.
Saturday, April 13th 13:00 to 16:00 – Racing
Strategy
Knowing the Racing Rules in critical, but
having an effective strategy for racing is equally important if you want to
race well and have fun. Simple questions
like: where should I set my boat up for the start will be answered. In three hours we likely won’t get you ready
to race against the Oracle entry in the America’s Cup but you will be better
prepared for your next race!

Cal 20 Fever Regatta
On Saturday and Sunday, December 1st and 2nd, Shoreline will be hosting a regatta for our Cal 20's. This regatta was inspired by the excitement of the Cal 20 - Taco Tuesday races and the Adult Sailing Classes on the Cal 20's and therefore has been appropriately named - the Cal 20 Fever Regatta.
The format will be three races each day utilizing windward/leeward courses with a leeward gate. The scoring will be on the Low Point System. The goal is to have all six of our Cal 20's out on the water both days with different skippers each day. The scoring will not be cumulative between the days. Winners will be determined for each day.
Thanks to North Sails for stepping up to be our sponsor and for providing SYC with the prizes.
To register as a skipper simply click on the link below, choose which day you want to race and give your first and second choice for boat assignment.

Cal 20 Work Day 11/17
We are going to have a
Cal 20 workday on Saturday, November 17th. The primary focus of the day
will be to get the replacement mast and boom on LouLou so she will be ready to
race in the Cal 20 Fever Regatta on December 1st and 2nd. All of the
boats have something that needs to be done to them. We will start at
09:00 and hope to finish by early afternoon. Water, beer and lunch will
be provided.
Please let me know if you can be there so we can
organize the work crews by boat.
Thanks

Thanks to all the skippers and crew that came out and raced last weekend! We had nine boats dueling it out in the light air. Congrats to Jeff Landers on Whirligig and Stephen Ashley on Mille Onde for taking first place in non-spin and spin respectively.
