Cal 20 work day success!

Thanks to all who turned out to work on two of the Cal 20's that make up the Shoreline Yacht Club fleet.  This past Saturday, Bob Moberg, Ray Wilson, Warren Wolfe, Risa Scott, Bruce Davis, Joe Correa, Debbie Kraemer, Duncan Harrison and myself turned out to work on getting Bette Boop and Salty Lady ready for new bottom paint.  Although Salty Lady did have a bit of rust on her keel, for the most part it was some minor patching and buffing out the hulls.  For those of you who have never seen a Staff Commodore of SYC behind goggles in a haz-mat suit, that is Warren in the picture. This weekend we will be taking the rest of the fleet, Kate, Brit Brat and LuLu over to Cabrillo Boat Yard to get their bottoms cleaned. In addition to new bottom paint, we are going to be doing some rigging changes in preparation for the upcoming Cal 20 One-Design Racing and Junior Sailing season.

RIP Frank Ross

We are deeply saddened to report the passing of our dear friend and long-time member, Frank Ross. Frank has been the face of Shoreline's race program for almost the entire history of our club. We will be celebrating Frank's life at the club on Sunday, February 12th. Details will be provided at a future time.

There and Back Regatta POSTPONED

Due to the memorial service for Frank Ross which will be held on Sunday, February 12th, we will be rescheduling the There and Back Avalon Regatta.  I don't know yet, exactly when it will be held but we should have a new date within the next week or so.

Thanks

CAL 20 Work Days!

All of the Cal 20's in the fleet are going to get new bottom paint for 2012.  As part of the process, we are going to be doing the prep work to have them ready for Cabrillo Boat Yard to do the actual paint work.  They will be done in two groups.  The prep work will be done over two weekends (January 28th and 29th and February 4th and 5th).  We need approximately 4 volunteers per boat to sand and patch the bottoms as necessary prior to painting.  We will meet at the Club at 08:30 to carpool over as parking is somewhat limited at CBY.  It is not known if the work will carry over to Sunday on either or both weekends as the bottom conditions on each individual boat will determine how much work will need to be done.

Let me know as soon as possible if you are available to come out and help with this project so we can make sure we have adequate help.

Thanks
