On Sunday, September 23rd, Shoreline Yacht Club hosted the Cruising Classes for the Charity Regatta, benefiting the Children's Clinic of Long Beach. We had 5 boats race in the Cruising A Class and 4 of the SYC Cal 20 fleet race in the Cruising B Class.
Although there was some concern prior to the start that the winds were going to fill in enough to actually get the boats started and racing, those concerns were unnecessary as the fleet had good winds and made it around the courses in good time. One small issue did surface, Mark 36 which was supposed to be the first mark on the course for both classes was missing. Sailors being the resourceful bunch that they are, they simply rerouted themselves to Mark 30 and kept on going. Apologizes from the Race Committee for the confusion.
Congratulations to Mark and Helen Thompson and their crew aboard On Eagles Wings for taking the win in Cruising Class A and Bob Moberg and his crew aboard Kate for taking the win in Cruising Class B. Full results are posted under the PHRF Tab.
